BLITZBALL: EASY WIN METHODS
Method 1:
The Luca Goers in the first tournament is the most unfair game
in the world of Blitzball. In the opening half, Grav collects
the ball and will pass it to Bickson. The chances of Bickson scoring
a goal are very high. Hope that Botta takes the ball off of him
or Bickson will score. Either way, you can still win even if Bickson
scores. Pass the ball to Jassu. Jassu can pass the ball to Tidus,
who passes the ball to Letty, who passes to Botta, who passes
to Datto, who goes to Letty, who passes to Jassu, etc. Keep doing
this until half time. Tidus should get to level 3, and if you
know the Jecht Shot this will be easier. If have the Jecht Shot,
pass the ball straight to Tidus. Go right up to the goals, making
sure that you only have two people on you. Select "Shoot"
and then "Jecht Shot". You should be successful unless
you are too far out. Then, resume the strategy used in the first
half and you should win. If you do not have the Jecht Shot, do
the same as you would with the Jecht Shot, but make sure you only
have one person on you and use the Sphere Shot.
Method 2:
In any game against any team, set Botta in RF, Jassu in LF, Tidus
in MF, Datto (Rin, optional) in RD, Letty in LD, and Keepa (Yuma Guado, optional) in GL. Set the best skills (Sphere Shot, Pile
Venom, etc.) to everyone. Yuma Guado and Rin are both better than
the other possible players. Tidus should have Sphere Shot at about
level 5 or 6. The following is a list of how players are good
at doing certain things: Tidus: Shooting. Botta: Passing. Letty: Passing. Jassu: Passing.
Datto: Shooting. Keepa: Goaltending. Rin: Passing.
Yuma Guado: Goaltending.
To find other players for your team, press Square to see
the info on how good a player is. For example, try Lakkam who
plays for the Al Bhed. Once her contract is over, you can find
her somewhere in the game and get her for a player. She is very
bad at shooting (1) but great at passing (20-23).
Method 3: After the gaining control of the airship, scout Brother
(the man flying it). Put him on you team for as many games as
you can afford. He is very fast and will be a good player to have
on your team. Also have Tidus and another good shooter and put
them in your RF and LF positions. Have Brother be your MF. The
rest of the positions do not matter. When your team gets the ball,
give it to Brother. Dribble in with him and go around all of the
defenders. If you get close enough, the defenders will follow
you. Since Brother is so fast dribbling in, get all defenders
on you, and dribble the opposite direction to the goal your team
is guarding. If all defenders follow you, should be able to get
away from the defenders enough so you can have an open pass down
the other half of the sphere. Pass it to one of the open players
down the sphere. If Tidus has the Sphere or Jecht Shot, give it
to him or someone else that is open. Once you pass it, dribble
down with the player who received the pass. You should have an
open shot. Take it at point blank range, since it is very possible
to do that. You should score most of the time. Continue this to
rack up points and the game should be no problem. If you just
want to waste down the clock, give the ball to Brother and just
run around. No one should be able to catch him. Note: This trick
works the best when playing the Ronso Fangs.
Method 4:
When playing get at least one more point the other team. Once
you get the ball again, keep on you side of the field and do not
move. The clock will tick by and no one will come after you, letting
you win the game.
Method 5:
Use the following trick to win the first Blitzball game. Learn
the Jecht Shot on the boat. When the game starts and you get the
ball, change your formation to the left or right side and stay
near your goal. Just pass the ball around and try to get people
leveled up, especially Tidus. When the half is over, equip Tidus
with either the Jecht Shot (recommended) or Sphere Shot. When
the second half starts, do your best to keep the other team from
scoring and when you get the chance, have Tidus shoot with the
Jecht Shot. You need to score at least once before Wakka comes
in. If you are close enough and are able to make it without the
Jecht Shot, do so, and save the Jecht Shot for another opportunity.
If you can score at least twice, you should be able to win. When
Wakka comes in (the Goers get the ball and usually score no matter
what), do what you did at the start and stay near your goal. If
they do get close, pass the ball. When you get down to the last
30 seconds or so shoot the ball. Since you are over by a goal,
it should not leave the Goers with enough time to score.
Method 6:
Use the following trick to win the first Blitzball game. In the
first half of the game, just pass the ball between your players.
Do not go near the Goers. Keep the ball back and make sure all
your players get at least two passes each. This will raise there
experience and level. When the match timer gets to 4:00, stick
to the bottom of the sphere and travel down to the Goer's goal.
If you wait, the Goers will not go near you. Wait until Tidus
is unmarked (use the radar). Pass to the ball to him and have
him move towards the goal. When you are close, shoot. You may
come across a Goers -- Break him (do not select No Break or it
will ruin your shot. You should score. This should take at least
45 seconds to accomplish, leaving 15 seconds remaining on the
clock until half time. When the Goers kick off, they will not
have enough time to score. In the second, half do the same (pass
the ball and keep away from the Goers). When the match timer gets
to 1:45, stick to the bottom of the sphere and travel down to
the Goer's goal. Wait until Tidus is unmarked (use the radar).
Pass the ball to him. Instead of moving forward, use Tidus' Sphere
Shot. Make sure you get at least 21 SH and it will sail in. This
should take at least 40 seconds. The Goers will kick off. However,
before they get a chance to score against you, the match will
stop. When the clock hits 2:30 the game will stop and Wakka will
come on, causing the kick off to be retaken, giving ypu the ball.
Hold the ball near the edge of the arena and the Goers will not
come near. Wait until the clock stops and you have won the game.
Method 7:
After you score a goal, all you have to do to win is win the Blitzoff.
Do not touch any buttons if you win -- just sit there. The opposing
team usually just swims in circles, allowing the time to expire
without them getting the ball. Watch your HP -- when you are standing
still it goes down fast. This also works sometimes when you pass
to a player that is far away from the other team.
Method 8:
Shoot one goal then try to get possession of the ball again. Once
done, hide behind your goalie (not the goalpost) and no one will
bother you. The players will start spinning in place. Send your
players to the other side or as far over as possible. Pass to
your best shooter and make a break for it.
Method 9:
Get Tidus' Jecht Shot. It is almost the best move in the game.
Get the ball to Tidus, and swim to the other goal, avoiding other
players as much as possible. Get in front of the goal, and make
sure two or less players are around you. Use the Jecht Shot and
you should be able to score with ease. With the remainder of the
game, get the ball to anyone on your team and hide behind your
goalie. The other players will not approach you. Time will run
out and you will win the game.
Method 10:
Make sure that you have Tidus in the RF position, the Jecht Shot,
and movement set to "Manual A". When you get the ball,
pass it to Tidus. Swim down the right side of the pool (bottom
of map). Since he has decent speed, he will get down to the opposite
side quickly. Whenever an opposing player gets close to him, repeatedly
press Triangle until the movement menu appears. Choose
"Manual A" again, then any formation. As soon as this
menu disappears, continue swimming. As you will notice, the other
players will stop moving for about two seconds. Continue to do
this on your way to the goal and you will have little resistance.
Then, just use the Jecht Shot to score. Keep in mind that the
Jecht Shot only hits two opponents at a time, so try to minimize
resistance. Make sure you swim into the goal so that you have
your maximum SH by the time the ball reaches the goalie. Repeat
this strategy and you will be able to win easily. It also helps
to have a good team.
Method 11:
Use the following trick to win the first Blitzball match. It is
a good idea to have the Jecht Shot beforehand. Use the default
line up stings and equip the Jecht Shot. If you do not have it,
then use Sphere Shot. Just before the match starts, quickly press X to increase your chances of possession. If you get possession,
go directly for the top edge of the field and get as close to
the goal post as possible without getting more than one encounter
at a time. Once you have gotten at least within a quarter length
away from the goal, pass it to Tidus. If you have the Jecht Shot,
then it does not matter if he is covered if not. Otherwise, try
to shake off some of the Goers, then use the Sphere Shot. Keep
using this method and make changes where needed. It will not be
too difficult if you are observant. Note: If you are using the
Jecht Shot, it takes a lot more HP than the Sphere Shot or the
normal one. If you are ahead, you may want to switch to the sphere
shot in the second half.
Method 12:
The first Blitzball match that you play is a bit unfair. Keepa
only has 5 CA, meaning any unguarded shots from the front three
will probably go in, and your best player (Tidus) gets taken off
at about 2.30 at the second half. In the first half, get control
of the ball. If they score from the Blitzoff, that is bad but
not critical. When you control the ball, pass it around. Every
time a player makes a successful pass, he gains 1 exp. Make sure
Tidus makes one pass, as that is all that is needed to level him
up. Apart from that, train up the four Aurochs with repeated passing,
concentrating on Datto. Repeat until the end of the first half.
This should leave your players reaching at least level 2, with
Tidus at level 3. Equip him with Jecht Shot. At the start of the
second half, if they have scored, try and score back by either
getting as close as possible with only two encounters of Jecht
Shot, but if not, using Sphere Shot. Make sure the match is level,
and grab control of the ball. Pass repeatedly, again concentrating
on Datto, but using Letty, Jassu, and Botta also. When Wakka comes
on, repeat the tactic. At the end of the second half, Datto, and
possibly some others should level up again. Equip Datto with Nap
Shot, and anyone else with any Techs. You should now be around
the Goers Level, and Datto has the power of Nap Shot. If you are
lucky, Keepa will have even saved a shot, and with the bonus a
goalie always gets, he will be level 2. Now, hold up the ball
with Letty or Wakka, and when Datto only has the one defender
around him, pass to Datto and use Nap Shot. If you are lucky,
you will score. If not, you could put Raudy to Sleep. Repeat until
you score. If Wakka gets in the clear, however, do not hesitate
to use him. You could also try Nap Shooting from a distance. This
tactic may take multiple attempts, but it should work in the end.
Method 13:
Go behind your goalie when the other team's players are not to
close. Face the same direction as your goalie once you get behind
him/her, and the other team will just keep swimming in circles.
Do this after you score a point and they will just spin the entire
game and you will win. Note: Make sure the other team's players
are not too close, or it will not work; about half to three quarters
of the playing field is necessary.
